Two days to go

Oh my goodness, it’s nearly here! Just two days to go.

Today we visited White Park Brewery in Cranfield and Hopping Mad in Olney to pick up the precious barrels of real ale. And, you’ll be pleased to know the ciders are being collected tomorrow.

The list we have on the wall of all the things that have to be confirmed and collected is getting more big red ticks on it now – looks very colourful :-) There is a very positive outlook on the weather, so everyone has their fingers crossed.

We have a new sponsor and supporter for the show – Bullerwell & Co Ltd, Insurance Brokers. We, at the Clapham Show, use Bullerwell for our insurance each and every year because we know they are reliable, trustworthy and friendly. And they’re good at what they do!

BerylAnd we’d also like to give a shout out to Albery Dog Rescue for their support. Beryl has amazingly rehomed over one thousand dogs since founding Albery Rescue.

Very short post as that list will not diminish without some input!

HOPE TO SEE YOU ON SATURDAY :-)

Two weeks to go!

clapham show highways boardYou may have seen the banners and posters advertising the show for the 6th September, A big thank you to everyone who was involved and who has helped us to promote them :-)  We hope you didn’t miss the one that is up in lights!

The main new fact we wanted to get across was the new start time of noon. It lets you have a chance to sample the delights of our world food village and also the barbeque. We have successfully sourced all local produce for the food and the real ales and ciders tent.

The beefburgers at the barbecue are also locally produced from local organic beef. Yummy scrumptious!

Three weeks to go!

Countdown time to the show!

CS kellyhopter_largeTime to check everything twice over and make sure there are no missing gaps.  Time to make sure everyone knows all the different new features there will be at the show.  We’re still being asked by different people if they can exhibit, but there has to be a cut-off date or we will never be able to work out the site plan!

So excited and we hope it will be a huge success. The food village and the real ales and ciders tent have brought a lot of attention. It’s looking good and this is one of the breweries,  White Park Brewery of Cranfield.

Global Food Village and Real Ale & Cider Tent

In 2014 we’ll be adding some exciting new features to the Clapham Village Show.  Amongst them will be a Global Food Village and a Real Ale & Cider bar.  We’ll be bringing you the best the village has to offer in the tastiest food from Italy, China and the Indian sub-continent. Our neighbours from Bellini’s, The Good Chef and Zeera will each be serving a variety of favourite dishes from their extensive authentic regional menus. We’ll also have our usual offering of home made burgers from village-reared Freedom Food assured cattle and hot dogs with local sausages.

Our Real Ale & Cider bar will feature thirst-quenching summer supping ales from local breweries together with rustic, artisan ciders. The bar will be open as usual offering a full range of drinks, while refreshments, sandwiches and cakes will be served as usual from the kitchen in the village hall.

The show will be open from 12 noon, so why not put the date in your diary now and bring the whole family for lunch?

December 1st

Planning for next year’s show is going along nicely. The date will be Saturday 6th September. And it will be the 30th Show – celebrations will happen!

If you want to become involved with the Steering Group, please go to the ‘Contacts’ page and call one of us – we’re very friendly :-)

And if you want to exhibit, please give us a call.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Thanks to all who came along to the show, who took part in the show and who helped with the show.  Our guardian angels were smiling down on us and did not allow any raindrops to fall until we had finished clearing up at 18.30. Great result!

Next year, the show will be 30 years old!

Next year, the show will have a lot of new features.

Next year, the show will be on Saturday, 6th September from 13.00 to 17.00 (1.00pm to 5.00pm).

See you there.

11th September

Thank you to all who came to visit us at the Show on Saturday.  The weather angels kept it fine for us and the first raindrops fell as we left about 6.30!

Thank you very much to Alistair Burt, our MP, for coming to the show with his lovely wife, Eve, and their daughter and granddaughter. The next day (Sunday) he was flying out to Yemen – such a hectic schedule!

The Scout Hut was full of amazing entries into the Show – there is so much talent in Clapham! And thank you to the judges who came and made the hard decisions as to who won which class.

Thank you to all our sponsors and supporters – we just couldn’t do it without you.

The remaining raffle prizes were taken out yesterday to the winners and everyone was very happy.

There were many, many people who helped on the day, but special thanks go to Jean and Mick Coy and their friends for the amazing refreshments and the manning of it all; to Jeannette, the caretaker, for help on the day; to Maureen of The Star for managing the bar; Puddleducks Nursery for the sandpit in the arena; Doug & Charlie Tomkins for the fantastic pig races;  Beryl Litchfield for persuading people to part with their money in exchange for raffle tickets; John Shears for the great barbecue; Mark Flemons for all the different things he did; Jenni Jackson and John Paterson for organising the bric-a-brac; Tim Douglas for greeting people as they arrived, and the Parker posse of Tony, Gary, Mark and Gabbie – thank you, thank you, thank you.

And a huge, extra special thank you to Louise Marshall and Louise Tranquada, without whom the actual show entries, judging and awards would not have happened.

Next year the date is Saturday, 6th September and the good news is we’ve had some more people ask to join the Steering Group – onwards and upwards.

6th September

Well, here we are again, on the eve of the show – where has the year gone?

Although the weather may be a little damp, our spirits will be the same positive ones we always have – plus big smiles for all who come.

Smiles - be the reasonLook forward to seeing you tomorrow.

July 2013

Good news ~ our MP, Alastair Burt,  will be coming to the show.  In fact, we hope he’ll be there early to open it.  He’s a very busy man these days so we’re doubly grateful to him for finding the time to come to the Clapham Show.
